Regulatory compliance and document approval portal

An Australian pharmaceutical company collected and approved compliance documents by email and on shared drives, with no clear audit trail. We replaced that with a secure portal and tracked, multi-stage approvals.

The challenge

Approvals by email, in a regulated industry

Documents moved between inboxes and shared drives, so nobody could show who submitted what, who approved it and when. In a regulated industry that is a serious risk.

What we built

The solution

  • A secure portal that collects documents through configurable, multi-stage approval workflows.
  • Enterprise single sign-on with Microsoft Entra ID, and user and group management through Microsoft Graph API.
  • Secure document storage in Azure Blob Storage.
  • Event-driven background processing and notifications with Azure Functions.
  • A responsive React front end on a .NET back end.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can the portal use our existing Microsoft 365 sign-in?

Yes. It uses Microsoft Entra ID for single sign-on, and Microsoft Graph API to manage users and groups, so people sign in with the accounts they already have.

Are the approval stages fixed?

No. Approval workflows are configurable, with as many stages and approvers as the process needs.
